VEGA says this editorial of the Veterinary Record bluntly says it all, while floods add to the spread of disease and illfare for cattle and livestock. The government is preparing to cut down environmental services and improvements in farming practices.
It’s more use of shadow boxing with paradigm shifts and imagined differences against a public and government unwilling to spend money on environmental and welfare issues, not only for animals, but humans as well. So the indifference of the one health merchants of the British welfare organisations is lamentable too.
The brief mention of genetic engineering is far from acceptable, and redoubled efforts must be made to explore opportunities in the many dietary and food resources that are there but inadequately explored.
VEGA is proud of its small efforts to pursue some of these possibilities in agriculture and farming and it is trying to stir up more use of technology for producing wholesome and economically sound agriculture. It has a research project going on at the moment to these ends but it must attract people with these salutary interests in production of food. Salutary Foods from Salubrious Farming.
