The Editor of the Veterinary Record appears understand the longstanding and new overdue issues that face the incoming ministers.
This is what the Veterinary Record has to say (22 September 2012):
Our comment is that any changes leading to a green agriculture would be welcome. This is a message that must be seen and understood and considered in lifestyles. Talk to your friends and try the new offerings of science and sheer common sense. This should be considered urgently as a new generation of consumers replaces the old stick-in-the-muds and should inspire new consumers to greater exercise of their responsibilities in the consumption of meat and dairy produce and of all the other animals and a happier more compassionate agriculture.
Recent changes include the suspension of exports of live sheep from Ramsgate Port but it is reported that exports will continue from Ipswich in Suffolk.
