Dioxins are chemicals that get into our food from the environment. According to the Food Standards Agency dioxins have no immediate effect on our health, but they can cause problems if consumed at high levels for long periods. The amount of dioxins found in the products exceeds legal levels. According to a professor at Imperial College (as stated in a news item in The Times, 15th March 2006), a high intake over a long period could affect women and their babies. The Times also said that Seven Seas blamed Incromega, an ingredient supplied by another company.
